Nose job anyone?

A little bit more fun with my photo editing software...

Gave Closet Lian a virtual cosmetic surgery... Which is the original? Go figure... but if you're interested in the software I'm using, its VCW VicMan's Photo Editor. You can download it from www.download.com. Its FREE, simple to use and not hungry on memory. Enjoy!

SNIFFFFFZzzzz!!!

*AH CHOO!!!* darn... been sneezing the whole day... I think the super strong air-con on the bus to KL really got me... it was so cold I could swear I was almost down with pneumonia and hypothermia by the time I got off the bus... Officially on one day MC. Shall telecommute tomorrow... can I dun work at all? Hmmm...... I dun think I have the luxury actually even though most friends would think its the workaholic me that's working up that excuse... my colleagues should know better right?

Anyway, Nice guy just blogged about the trip as well... For the other angle of the KL trip, refer to Nice Guy's comments.

Somehow can't post the pics in one post so I'm posting them separately...

Cobalt Blue Tarantula - RM130

Ball Python - RM 180

Guinea pigs - RM25 each (I think)

Green iguana - RM ??? (forgot to check)

Seeing Mr. Nice Guy hogging the mike singing "My Humps" in the KTV wide awake at 3:00am in the morning... - PRICELESS

Escapism (Sep 2006)

Somehow going for holidays is always fun, strangely, even if you're going to somewhere so similar to home (Singapore). Has this converstation with a colleague the other day if its the place or just the fact that we're away from Singapore that gives us the feeling of freedom and well... whatever else... I guess we kindda concluded that its the effect of stepping away from the country. Of course this cannot be statistically significant as the sample size is only 2, we need a minimum sample size of at least 30 to find any statistical pattern or incidence (urgghh... Quant) .
Anyway, my escape this time is to KL. Took a few pictures and all along the way with a sucky camera phione but its better than none. Mr. Nice Guy and I met near my office before we left on Friday, we passed by this convenience stall that sold these... Interesting imitations...

Ok I didn't take much pictures of KL since its not my first time there and basically there's nothing really much I think I wanna take... of course another aspectis that I dun really wanna be treated like a tourist... and my camera isn't great. Otherwise, KL is a fantastic place to get some good shots of people... for artistic shots of the city and its culture. Far more fascinating than Singapore, in my opinion. Maybe Singapore's too organised, too homogeneous. Anywhere else in the world seems to have a little bit more variety.

Anyway since I didn't manage to bring home any hedgehog, which I wouldn't anyway, I decided to take some pictures of some otheri nteresting animals from a local pet store for the sake of my Closet Lian friend. (and some for my SPG friend as well...)

Jamming in the basement...

Just read a mail from my buddy in Philly... not sure if he's in Philly now though... Frankly I haven't been a very good friend and have been too caught up trying to straighten my life to care much about others. But yeah guess I do miss him quite a bit... Checked out his little blog... well not really a blog but its kindda cool.. he uploads his recordings up there... Not to mention his cute friend Cindy was under his friend's list as well... man... to think I used to hang out with them so often... I must be the most unhip amongst their friends... Hahaha...

Sigh... miss Philly... seems so distant now... so surreal...

Night out at Devil's Bar

Last Saturday night... I was pretty proud... I was pissed drunk and I managed to take care of another friend who was probably a million times worse off than me.

Cedric! This one's for you~ HAHAHAHA......
You owe me big time buddy...

Never Let Me Go...

Had a little row with my buddy... Not quite sure what happened then but it reminded me exactly of the scene in Kazuo Ishiguro's book, except neither of us really backed down. Shall not explain too much of the situation. That was really needless... things will probably be a little awkward for a while.

I'm almost tempted to say, I have better things to do than to bother about stuff like that... but then... its not really about winning the arguement.

Snacks from Thailand!!!

Came back from my Bangkok trip last Friday. Well... typically when my colleagues go overseas, they come back and buy snacks for everyone. Since I went to Bangkok, I should be expected to bring something back too right?

So... I got some unique "snacks".

And... actually, quite alot of people ate them...
EEEEWWWWWwww...

Hahaha... frankly, the look on Damien's face and his "I hate you" was my personal trophy. Haha... of course Ivy did her job of coercing him. Actually, I heard Mirinda ate one as well and so did one of my temps. All in name of fun... Heehee...

Anyway... some of my temps are working only till the end of this week. Guess I'll miss them abit. They did help me quite alot... I got a pack of Taiwanese snacks from one of them on her last day... *a bit touched* The rest helping me should be starting school soon too... Sigh... I need a new competent temp. Hahaha... but then should not be over reliant.

Anyway... Goodbye June... I didn't say much but frankly... will miss you. Hope the break does you plenty good. And for the record... I NOT BENG OK!!!
Hahaha...

Haven't blogged for such a long time. It almost seems like I have been trying so hard to get a life and balance my work at the same time I have hardly any time for rest.

Work has been interesting but the workload does not seem to increase linearly on gradually. If sharp learning curve was what I was searching for, probably I've gotten my wish.

My story

Pages flipping as my life in the writing.
A collection of short stories, each with no start or ending.
Today I awake, tonight I sleep.
Who am I tomorrow? What am I today?
Yesterday has passed.
Loose pages lost in the flipping.
Tomorrow lies unwritten, yet who is the author?
The title, no longer important.
Pages nine thousand plus and counting.
Who will I be tomorrow? I don’t even know myself today.

"Ah Beng" Consultant...

Sigh... first and foremost... this is something I;m not really proud of nor ashamed of just irritated by the stereotypical image of something I do not consider myself to be.

Anyway... just got commented by my manager that I am "Beng" AGAIN... and I'm really wearing a long sleeved shirt and tie everyday. I even put on specs instead of wearing contact lenses. For Singaporeans, the term "Ah Beng" will not be alien to you. But for the benefit of those who are not, I will try to explain what an "Ah Beng" is.

There are many definitions to what an "Ah Beng" is. Many of which are not really glamorous. I shall not elaborate all the different definitions here but this link will probably have relatively accurate perspective of what it means. I found it interesting because it is actually defined by a non-Singaporean. By the way the term "Ah Beng" originantes and is really only used in Singapore and maybe Malaysia.

An "Ah Beng", is typically a Chinese male, ill-mannered, tries to act cool by imitating the mannerisms and duplicate the image of street hooligans, loves to use vulgarities especially in hokkien, speaks alot of Hokkien and loves to swear, wears flambouyant clothes in a fashionably rebellious nature, may or may not be dangerous but tries to act like they are, have rebellious hairstyles especially for students who dye their hair and keep it long beyond their school's regulations, loves to hang out in groups and be publicly seen as what they are, could be regarded as a form of rebellion against the norm of our conservative and conformist society to be world class citizens of respectable status, could also be a form of peer influenced manifestation for male gender to look tough and be "bad".

Stereotyped misconceptions of "Ah Bengs" would be, poor in academia, involved in criminal activities or secret societies, have poor family backgrounds, loyal to their "brotherhood", bold and indifferent of other's opinions.

These are some of my own descriptives of what an "Ah Beng" is. I'M NOT REALLY LIKE THAT AM I? *growls*

Dear Hilde...

The current book I'm reading is loaned from a friend. Indeed this is one book which I have been wanting to read for a long time without knowing exactly what it is about. Haha... finally I know what its about. I shall not try to give a book review on Sophie's World but in a way... it has encouraged me to daydream and inquire about alot of well... many of my friends would call them stupid things which I should not waste my time chewing over... Anyway trust me, its a book you would really want to pick up...

*by the way, I'm no philosophy lover geek*

Nightingale

Been listening to a song and just realised part of the lyrics seemed awfully familiar,

... Does it seem like I'm looking for an answer
To a question I can't ask...

Did I feel this way before as well?

Suave salsa dancer?

You know what, those guys at work aren't as boring as I thought. Actually, they are a pretty fun bunch too... but nevertheless very professional at work. First week on work and already given my first assignment. As if that's not enough, I'm actually craving for more. Is my holiday mood finally over? Anyway I still go for my salsa and still hang out with friends. I'm not that no life workaholic like most of my friends predicted me to be right?

Oh did I mention the head of my office spammed the whole world introducing me as a "suave salsa dancer"? Can't believe that... I better brush up to live up to that reputation. Especially since I already had a reply from Hongkong saying we should salsa someday if we ever get the chance. Oh well... I guess I'm kindda welcomed to the company.
